Job Title: Production Worker (1st Shift) ($17.00/hr.)

Job Description

This contract-to-hire Production Worker role supports a highly automated, clean manufacturing facility by loading, packaging, and preparing plastic parts for shipment while following strict safety and quality standards. You will work on a day shift schedule within a small, close-knit team and contribute to efficient, high-volume production in a well-organized environment. Work Schedule - 7:00am-7:00pm. Will work a rotating schedule - Ex. 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off.

Opportunity to go up to $21.00/hr. after 6 months*

Responsibilities

  • Load plastic parts into boxes on skids and ensure each skid is properly filled according to production requirements.
  • Use a pallet jack to safely move skids and pallets within the production and shipping areas.
  • Work as an active member of a natural team that includes a Technical Operator and Technician, supporting smooth production flow.
  • Follow all safety rules at all times and consistently wear required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
  • Lift up to 30 pounds intermittently over a 12-hour shift while performing production and material handling tasks.
  • Spend the majority of the shift walking and standing to support production, packaging, and material movement activities.
  • Pull production racks and gather samples of seals for inspection as directed by quality or inspection staff.
  • Dump plastic seals into production boxes and visually inspect them while dumping to identify obvious defects.
  • When cartons are full of plastic parts, transfer the full bag to a shipping carton and clearly identify the cavity by writing it on the shipping carton label.
  • When a skid is full, transfer the pallet to the designated shipping area and stretch-wrap the pallet after the Inspector has completed paperwork and stamped cartons with the lot number.
  • Restock supplies for the next shift, including mesh bags, boxes, plastic bags, pallets, and other consumables, ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Replace cardboard boxes and other materials on carts as you use them so that supplies remain available for the team.
  • Pick up plastic parts from the floor at the end of every shift to maintain a safe and tidy work area.
  • Dust and clean equipment as needed to support cleanliness and basic upkeep of the production area.
  • Ensure the plant is clean and organized at the end of each shift by following established housekeeping standards.
  • Empty garbage cans regularly and dispose of waste in the appropriate locations.
  • Keep your individual work area clean, organized, and compliant with company standards throughout the shift.
  • Support general production activities such as loading and unloading materials, operating on or alongside packaging and production lines, and assisting with assembly and packaging tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members in manufacturing and warehouse functions, including material handling and basic forklift or pallet movement tasks where trained and authorized.

Essential Skills

  • Previous manufacturing experience is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds intermittently over a 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to stand and remain on your feet for a full 12-hour shift.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience with general production tasks such as loading, unloading, and working on a manufacturing or warehouse floor.
  • Ability to safely use a pallet jack to move skids and pallets.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
  • Ability to follow safety rules and consistently wear required PPE, including safety glasses and hearing protection.
  • Strong attention to detail for tasks such as visual inspection of plastic seals and accurate labeling of shipping cartons.
  • Reliability and willingness to work a structured shift schedule that includes 12-hour days.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area and follow housekeeping standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Pallet jack experience is a strong plus.
  • Packaging, assembly, or packaging line experience is highly beneficial.
  • Visual inspection experience in a production or quality setting is a plus.
  • Experience in general production, warehouse operations, or material handling is helpful.
  • Experience working with forklifts or in a material handler role is an advantage where properly trained and certified.
  • Comfort working around automated machinery and high-volume production lines.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and accept one-on-one training and coaching.
  • Interest in long-term growth and advancement opportunities within a stable manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a small facility with fewer than 20 employees, creating a close-knit and supportive atmosphere. The plant is clean, well-lit, organized, and highly automated, producing high volumes of battery caps across 36 machines that run 24/7. Open positions are available on Yellow Days and Green Days day shifts, with a schedule that typically rotates as 3 days off, 2 days on, and 3 days off, within a four-shift system (yellow days, yellow nights, green days, green nights). You will work 12-hour shifts on your assigned days, spending most of your time walking and standing while performing production and material handling tasks. The environment emphasizes safety, with required use of PPE such as safety glasses and hearing protection. The facility runs continuously, supports long-tenured employees, and maintains a laid-back, non-machine-shop feel where you are not tied to a single machine and are trusted to manage your responsibilities without constant supervision. Dress is practical and appropriate for a production and warehouse setting, with PPE worn as required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
