Job Description

The General Production Worker operates and supports metalworking machinery to produce concrete wall ties from thin aluminum sheet metal. This role involves loading and monitoring machines, organizing finished parts, bundling and transporting materials, and spray painting components according to order specifications. The position is hands-on, repetitive, and ideal for someone who enjoys working with mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment and takes pride in accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Load production machines with rolls of thin aluminum sheet metal in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Monitor machines as they punch holes and cut the metal to specified dimensions, ensuring consistent quality and output.
  • Collect processed metal pieces from a small conveyor belt and organize them according to size, order, or production batch.
  • Tie completed concrete wall ties together with metal wire to create secure bundles.
  • Transport bundled wall ties to the designated storage or staging area using appropriate material handling methods.
  • Spray paint the ends of the ties according to order specifications, ensuring accurate color coding and coverage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient production.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and use mechanical machinery in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Perform repetitive, hands-on tasks with consistent attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Assist with general production and metal shop tasks as needed, supporting overall manufacturing operations.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to work in a repetitive, hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working with mechanical machinery, including metalworking and metal stamping equipment (no programming required).
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety and the ability to follow written and verbal procedures.
  • Capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50–65 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure proper organization, bundling, and color coding of parts.
  • Experience or comfort in general production, general labor, and metalworking environments.
  • Ability to work in a machine shop setting and support general production worker duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a metal shop, machine shop, or fabrication environment.
  • Familiarity with metal stamping and general metalworking processes.
  • Exposure to blueprint reading, drill press operation, or basic mechanical tasks.
  • Demonstrated reliability and interest in long-term, full-time employment with potential for conversion to a permanent role.

Work Environment

This role is based in a machine shop production environment. The facility is not climate controlled, so it can be warm in the summer; doors and windows are kept open and multiple fans run to improve airflow. During the winter, the area stays warm due to the continuous operation of the machines. The work is physically active and involves frequent lifting, moving materials, and standing for extended periods while working with metalworking and production equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
