General Labor - Recycling Sorter (1st Shift)
Shift/Hours:Monday - Friday
1st shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Pay Rate:$17.40/hr
Location: Elkridge, MD
Position Summary:
The Recycling Sorter is responsible for separating and sorting recyclable materials on a conveyor line within a materials recovery facility (MRF). This role is essential to ensuring materials are properly processed and meet quality standards for recycling.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort and separate recyclable materials (paper, plastics, metals, etc.) from a moving conveyor belt
Remove contaminants and non-recyclable items from the stream
Maintain awareness of material types and sorting categories
Keep work area clean and free of debris
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines at all times
Communicate with team members and supervisors regarding workflow and safety concerns
Work Environment:
Industrial recycling facility (MRF)
Loud, fast-paced environment
Exposure to dust, odors, and varying temperatures (non-climate controlled)
Requires standing for extended periods and repetitive motion
Qualifications:
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
Comfortable standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks
Ability to work in a team-oriented setting
Previous warehouse or labor experience preferred but not required
Schedule & Physical Requirements:
Ability to work assigned shifts, including potential rotating schedules
Must be able to lift up to 25–50 lbs as needed
Must be able to stand, bend, twist, and reach throughout the shift
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $17.40 - $17.40
