What You’ll Do

  • The Regional Gene Therapy Sales Development Leader is responsible for achievement of Gene Therapy sales target with strong prospecting skills in a direct sales role. The role is responsible for generating business opportunities at all key Gene Therapy customer sites in collaboration with the BioPharma sales organization, encompassing the terms of the BioProcess portfolio to propose end-to-end solutions. The Regional Gene Therapy Business Development Manager will have deep understanding of gene therapy manufacturing, will be able to respond to customers’ technical/process questions in order to successfully generate and close opportunities. As a Gene Therapy subject matter expert, he/she will be expected to support and educate the BioPharma Account Managers and Sales Specialists on the business and technical aspects of the Gene Therapy market segment. This person will operate in a matrix structure and collaborate with the existing teams who deal with the customer and ensure that good communication systems and processes are created with Account Managers and Sales Specialists. He/ she will develop strong working relationships with Zone Leaders, Account Managers, Sales Specialists and Field Application Specialists. He/she will establish regular communications with product management teams across global locations to convey VOC. As a result, this role directly contributes to grow Gene Therapy revenue and increase market share.
  • Analyse and articulate customer and market needs, prospecting all categories of Gene Therapy accounts from discovery, PD to manufacturing including CMOs, developing relationships with customers and managing opportunities in collaboration with the sales organization to meet and exceed sales goals. Grow revenue across all Cytiva modalities including but not limited to Hyclone, WAVE/XDR, Filtration, resins, Chrom HW/SU, lab scale AKTA and Biacore. Drive and execute key Gene Therapy deals closure.
  • Act as a Gene Therapy subject matter expert from technical to business aspects. Develop a deep technical expertise of process challenges across the entire workflow of viral vectors (such as Adeno Associated Virus / AAV).
  • Support and train the BioPharma sales organization on Gene Therapy and convey knowledge to the regional teams.
  • Differentiate Cytiva’s solutions and offerings, convey compelling value propositions and respond to customers’ technical questions.
  • Develop, write and implement customer focused sales and business plans based on market knowledge and overall business performance criteria. These plans will include strategic directions and goals established locally, as well as those established jointly with the regional management team.
  • Driving account planning to successfully prospect Gene Therapy customers, gather and synthetize account information using multiple sources of information including analytical tools such as SFDC and Qlik, communicate to the respective Sales Account Manager and translate into action plan in collaboration with Account Manager.
  • Prepare and present sales projections and forecasts of sales within the defined area, including budget planning for the following fiscal year. Create accurate reports of existing business and maintain an accurate forecast of short-term business opportunities.
  • Maintain Gene Therapy related business metrics and report on a regular basis to the regional commercial leadership teams.
  • Provide actionable market and technology insights, gather Voice of Customers. Participate to regional conferences, trade associations, etc
  • Frequent regional travels (about 50% but depending on location). Occasional international travel will be required.

Who You Are

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science subject or comparable work experience required
  • Gene Therapy market knowledge and process expertise required.
  • Previous experience selling Cytiva and/or Life Sciences products
  • Several years of experience in direct sales role, Key Account Management role. Demonstrated ability to work directly with Customer at all levels within the organization from Process Development scientist to CEO, CFO.
  • Experience in formally presenting corporate strategies, product and application solutions to a technical audience is desired. Excellent communication skills essential.
  • Outstanding influencing, interpersonal and networking skills to drive collaborative culture at all levels. Self-starter with strong entrepreneurial mindset and excellent negotiating skills
  • Solid working experience with MS Office especially Excel and PowerPoint and a CRM database (preferably Salesforce.com) required as well as sale analysis tools such as Qlik. English fluent
