Gardener/Crew Member

Wild & Scenic Inc is a garden and landscape management company focused on practical, sustainable horticulture in maintenance and installation throughout Rhode Island. Our work ranges from coastal meadows to formal gardens, with an emphasis on long-term plant health and thoughtful land care.

We are currently seeking full-time seasonal crew members to join a small team (6–8 people) working on high-end residential properties. This is physically demanding, fast-paced outdoor work in all weather conditions. Days are hands-on and task-driven, and we move with purpose to meet daily goals.

This role is also an opportunity to build real skills in horticulture. Crew members receive on-the-ground training in plant care, garden maintenance, and installation practices, with exposure to a wide range of landscapes and plant communities.

Daily work includes planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, raking, and detailed care of annuals and perennials. Work is performed using both manual and power tools, and comfort with each is expected.

We are looking for someone who:

• Brings a strong work ethic and shows up ready to work
• Can move efficiently through physical tasks and stay focused throughout the day
• Is comfortable working on their feet and using their hands for extended periods
• Pays attention to detail and can follow direction
• Communicates clearly and works well with others
• Maintains professionalism with both clients and coworkers
• Is reliable, punctual, and accountable
• Holds a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Has reliable transportation to and from work
• Has prior horticulture experience or plant knowledge (preferred, but not required—we are willing to train the right individual)

Physical requirements:

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
• Climb in and out of truck beds (approx. 3 ft)
• Walk, stand, stoop, kneel, and squat for extended periods
• Shovel soil, compost, and mulch
• Reach above and below shoulder height for pruning and raking
• Grip and operate hand and power tools
• Work in variable weather conditions including heat, rain, and cold
