Game UX Designer (Mandarin Required)

Avia

UI/UX Designer, Innovation

Avia is looking for a creative, senior-level UI/UX Designer to join our UXDC (User Experience Design Center).

This is not a traditional production design role. We’re looking for someone who loves exploring new possibilities, especially through interaction innovation, and can quickly turn ideas into clear design concepts and interactive demos.

In this role, you’ll work on innovation initiatives built on top of Avia’s existing game portfolio. You’ll explore new interaction models, fresh UX directions, and new ways to elevate gameplay experience, then bring those ideas to life through prototypes and demos that help teams evaluate, validate, and move promising concepts forward.

You’ll also collaborate closely with global teams to refine ideas from both a visual and experiential perspective, creating strong design input for future product development.

What you’ll be doing

  • Explore new UX/UI opportunities for Avia’s existing games and turn them into innovative, testable design concepts
  • Drive design exploration through interaction innovation, including input patterns, feedback, interface rhythm, immersion, playability, and freshness of experience
  • Introduce new themes, mechanics, interaction approaches, and visual directions into existing products in ways that support product goals and player experience
  • Own or lead the full design process from concepting and competitive research to interaction framework design, UI exploration, and high-fidelity output
  • Create interactive demos and prototypes that help the team review ideas, evaluate directions, and validate experience quality
  • Use AI design tools throughout concept exploration and demo creation to accelerate ideation, visual exploration, iteration, and communication
  • Partner with global teams to refine design concepts across visual style, interface presentation, and detail execution
  • Support later-stage refinement when concepts move closer to implementation
  • Work effectively across regions and time zones, with a proactive and collaborative mindset

We’d love to hear from you if you have

  • 3+ years of UI/UX design experience in the game industry
  • Strong experience in mobile games; casual game experience is a big plus
  • A strong passion for game experience design and a solid understanding of mobile game interaction patterns, UI structure, and UX fundamentals
  • Strong interaction design skills and the ability to identify experience opportunities and turn them into structured innovation concepts
  • Strong visual design skills, with a good eye for hierarchy, layout, pacing, style, and overall polish
  • Proficiency in Figma
  • Strong demo / prototype creation skills, with the ability to quickly make ideas tangible and testable
  • Hands-on experience using AI design tools in actual design workflows
  • Strong creative thinking and communication skills
  • The ability to collaborate smoothly with cross-functional and distributed teams
  • Good written and spoken Mandarin for day-to-day global collaboration
  • Comfort working across time zones
  • Must be based in the U.S.

Nice to have

  • Experience taking innovation concepts or demo-driven projects from 0 to 1
  • Experience in gameplay innovation, interaction innovation, or visual style exploration
  • Experience working with global teams
  • Motion design skills, especially for concept presentation and demo experience
  • A deeper understanding of AI-driven design workflows or innovation methodologies
