Furnace, Refractory, Cooling Technician Department: Operations – Foundry Location: Humble, TX 77396 Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $26 – $30 per hour (DOE – Depending on Experience) Schedule: 12 Hour, Day Shift Position Purpose Perform refractory and cooling system maintenance activities on induction furnaces and related foundry equipment to ensure operational continuity, furnace efficiency, and production reliability, minimizing downtime and extending refractory service life.
Key Responsibilities Refractory & Furnace Maintenance • Perform maintenance and repair of refractory linings in induction furnaces. • Inspect refractory wear and monitor furnace canal conditions. • Support sintering processes for inductors and furnace vessels. • Propose refractory improvements to extend service life and optimize costs. Cooling Systems • Perform maintenance, assembly, and pressure testing of cooling systems prior to installation. • Verify alignment and operational condition of secondary coolers to prevent leaks and system failures. • Ensure proper system pressure and hermetic sealing before operation. Operational Support • Support foundry operations during furnace interventions and refractory work. • Monitor and record operational parameters (voltage, amperage, kilowatts) for equipment control. • Maintain proper tool inventory and coordinate stock replenishment when required. • Support inventory activities and ensure material availability. • Maintain clean and organized work areas according to safety standards.
Required Profile Education • Technical education in Metallurgy, metal furnace, heat treating or related industrial field is preferred. • Specialized training in refractory lining or furnace maintenance is a plus. Experience • Experience with induction furnaces and cooling systems strongly preferred. • Knowledge of refractory technical specifications and sintering processes. Technical Knowledge • Refractory installation and maintenance. • Cooling systems assembly and pressure testing. • Foundry furnace operation fundamentals. • Basic English for understanding technical documentation, Spanish is a plus.
