Job Title: Camp Counselor , Camp Pawprint-Summer Break Reports to: Humane Educator – Cam p Pawprin t Focus Hours: 35-40 hour s/week, Monda y-Friday Pay Rate: $15.00/hour Scope of Position: Camp Counselor s are limit ed-term emplo yees with the responsibility to ensur e that Camp Pawprin t is a safe, fun, and educ ational experience. Counselor s will lead childr en in learning about and engaging with various animals. This position involves teaching and super vising camper s under the direction of the Humane Educator. Duties and Responsibilities: 100% ● Super vise the safety of camp participan ts at all times ● Coor dina te, lead, and participa te in camp activities ● Teach and super vise camper s according to the written program plans, including games, crafts, and gues t speak er presen tations ● Help main tain the health and welfare of animals involved in camp activities ● Provide critic al and timely feedback to the Humane Educator and the team throughout camp ● Effectiv ely and respectfully communic ate with parents, DCHS staff, volun teers, counselor s in training , and camper s ● Main tain a clean and organized environmen t wher ever camp activities are held ● Ensur e a fun and educ ational environmen t for all participan ts in Camp Pawprin t ● Assis t with set up and clean up of the day’s activities ● Direct handling and care of classr oom animals, not limit ed to corn snak es, hissing cockr oaches, guinea pigs, and rats Preferred Qualific ations/R equir emen ts: ● Experience and/ or interest in working with childr en, primarily ages 7-12 ● Practic al knowledg e of and experience caring for domes tic animals preferred ● Mus t be 18 years or older ● Mus t have reliable transport ation to DCHS, located at 5132 Voges Road, Madison WI ● Mus t be available Monda y-Frida y June 8th-Augus t 21st, 2026 (except for July 2 nd & 3 rd & Augus t 6 th & 7 th ) ● CPR and first aid certific ations preferred (All camp staff get trained in CPR/Fir st Aid at no cost to our counselor s if not already certified) ● If offered a position, candida tes mus t pass a backgr ound check run by DCHS To Apply: Please send a cover letter and resume to Emilee Csom, DCHS Humane Educator, at camp@giveshelt er.org.
