Full Stack Software Engineer, Amazon Leo OISL

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC
Redmond, WA

Description

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to help us build a robust, end-to-end SaaS platform for our complex space satellite network. You will design and architect multi-layered services that collect real-time satellite data, analyze network topology, and correlate signals to identify faults. You will develop automated runbook triggers to resolve issues or escalate them to the right teams, while leveraging machine learning and generative AI to detect anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and predict customer impact.

In addition to your technical contributions, you will break down the platform roadmap into well-scoped action items and mentor junior engineers to drive efficient, high-quality delivery.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for a seasoned engineer with a proven track record of building full stack, mission-critical software solutions, including:

Front End: JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js
Back End: Node.js, Python, Java, RESTful API development, and database design
Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS and other cloud services, microservices architecture, and distributed systems

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end automation initiatives to build sophisticated tools and services that address complex network operations, debugging, and troubleshooting challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze network architecture, stakeholder requirements, and customer needs, delivering software solutions that drive measurable business value.
- Design and implement AI/ML solutions leveraging AWS services to enhance space network operations and accelerate problem resolution.
- Drive data-driven decision making by building and maintaining network KPI systems, including databases, dashboards, and visualization platforms for performance monitoring and reporting.
- Develop full stack products with intuitive front-end visualizations and scalable back-end infrastructure to support them.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software and network engineers through effective task delegation, project management, and structured onboarding programs to optimize team productivity.

A day in the life
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you begin your day reviewing satellite network data, identifying anomalies, and formulating mitigation plans. You analyze performance metrics to guide decisions, then lead cross-functional discussions to design scalable architectures that automate data collection, analysis, and issue resolution. You build intuitive front-end interfaces using React or Angular alongside robust back-end APIs and AWS cloud infrastructure that power them. Throughout the day, you mentor junior engineers, align stakeholders, and drive projects forward, showcasing your technical depth and leadership to ensure the reliable operation of our space satellite network.

About the team
The Optical Inter-Satellite Link (OISL) organization is responsible for the design, development, and manufacturing of critical hardware and software that makes laser links between satellites possible. We are rapidly expanding and developing a new Network Automation team. We are looking for a software engineer to join and lead our new team to develop novel software services that can automate fault finding based on satellite data, automate workflows and operational procedures, and use ML/AI to find and correlate anomalies in the space network, identify root causes, and predict customer impacts.
