About Alura

Alura is building the infrastructure layer for modern matchmaking: a two-sided platform where a consumer app and a matchmaker portal run on a shared backend and shared data model. The product lives at the intersection of real users, real-time communication, and AI-driven onboarding and compatibility modeling.

We are early, technical, and shipping fast. We care about accuracy, privacy, and operational maturity from day one. We were admitted to the NVIDIA Inception Program in February, we expect to reach ~10,000 app users and 25 Matchmaker subscribers by September 2026.

What We Are Building

This is not a generic CRUD backend.

Our backend powers:

A unified API consumed by both the consumer iOS app ( React Native surfaces) and the

matchmaker web portal (React/web)

Cloud database systems that must remain correct, consistent, and performant under real user growth AI-enabled onboarding and profile enrichment workflows that extract structured personality traits and produce compatibility signals through multi-step conversational pipelines

Real-time communication primitives (chat & voice) shared across mobile and web with

consistent delivery guarantees

Matchmaking and scoring infrastructure that combines structured data, trait modeling, and

matchmaker judgment into actionable candidate surfaces

A production platform that supports ~10,000 users by September 2026 without constant firefighting, manual intervention, or regression risk on every deploy. If you enjoy systems where data models, user behavior, real-time constraints, and AI pipelines collide, and where architecture decisions have direct product consequences, this is that role.

What Makes This Role Different

You will:

  • Make architecture decisions grounded in real-world tradeoffs, not theoretical purity
  • Own production outcomes, performance, reliability, cost, data correctness, and product delivery
  • Create the engineering backlog proactively: define milestones, de-risk launches, and keep scope honest
