Front-End Planning Scheduler Bullets
- Support PSS Project Controls front-end planning by partnering with project/operations stakeholders to define scope, success criteria, and key deliverables through Chartering, Definition, and Scoping phases.
- Translate early scope and execution strategy into a consistent WBS and milestone structure that aligns with PSS/Business Operations reporting expectations.
- Contribute to the Schedule Management Plan (SMP): define update cadence, reporting needs, baseline approach, milestone governance, and schedule change-control expectations.
- Drive “readiness to schedule” by facilitating gate checks (scope definition, engineering maturity, permits/approvals, constructability, access/outage windows, and procurement readiness) before committing dates.
- Establish and maintain an assumptions and constraints log (owners, due dates, status) and track constraint burn-down to improve plan reliability.
- Coordinate long-lead material status and procurement milestones and ensure they are logically tied to engineering and construction activities to protect critical path.
- Coordinate with Cost, Risk, Change, and Metrics/Reporting functions to ensure schedule data supports integrated project controls (e.g., progress measurement expectations and reconciliation to other project tools).
- Perform schedule health checks early and often (logic quality, constraints, durations, calendars, float) to ensure CPM outputs are credible before baseline and formal reporting.
- Develop early milestone and key-path views; publish look-ahead plans and highlight schedule risks, near-critical paths, and decision points for leadership.
- Manage the handoff from front-end planning into execution scheduling: establish the initial baseline approach, confirm reporting cadence (e.g., SSR cycle where applicable), and align schedule change control with project governance.
