FPGA Design Engineer
Sterling Heights, MI
$51.69 - $56.32/Hour
Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop FPGA architectures for video processing, control systems, and hardware interfaces.
- Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware teams to translate requirements into implementable FPGA designs.
- Develop, decompose, and manage design requirements into structured work packages.
- Implement designs using Xilinx IP cores and third-party IP, and develop custom IP using VHDL/Verilog.
- Perform timing analysis and closure, including constraint development.
- Debug and validate designs through simulation and lab-based hardware testing.
- Support and maintain legacy FPGA and CPLD designs.
- Utilize revision control (Git) and issue tracking tools (Jira) for design collaboration and lifecycle management.
Qualifications:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- 5–10 years of FPGA design experience.
- Experience with Xilinx FPGA platforms and toolchains (Vivado, ISE, SDK, Vitis).
- Experience developing with VHDL and/or Verilog.
- Experience with SoC FPGA architectures (e.g., Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC, ARM processors, PS-PL interfacing).
- Experience with high-speed and embedded communication protocols: PCIe, USB, Ethernet, DDR, I2C, SPI, CAN.
- Experience with video interfaces such as LVDS and HDMI.
- Experience supporting Xilinx CPLDs (legacy systems).
- Familiarity with Git (or equivalent) and Jira (or similar tools).
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits and hardware integration.
