About the Role
Our client is seeking a Forward Deployed Systems Engineer with an Automotive focus to act as the critical bridge between advanced ML technologies and Tier 1 automotive engineering partners.
In this role, you will ensure that ML-powered systems are safely, reliably, and effectively deployed in highly regulated, safety-critical environments. You will operate at the intersection of machine learning, systems engineering, and real-world automotive deployment—translating between software/ML teams and hardware engineering stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a forward-deployed technical lead for automotive deployments with Tier 1 partners
- Provide deep systems and mechanical engineering expertise to ensure ML systems are physically viable and robust
- Translate regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, safety standards, and other compliance frameworks) into actionable engineering constraints
- Own end-to-end system lifecycle including requirements capture, system design, integration, and V-model verification & validation (V&V)
- Act as the primary liaison between ML/software teams and client-side engineering teams (mechanical, thermal, safety, systems)
- Lead root cause analysis of field issues, bridging gaps between model predictions and real-world system behavior
- Support deployment, troubleshooting, and performance validation in live automotive environments
What We’re Looking For
- 5–15 years of experience in systems engineering
- Background in automotive, aerospace/defense, or medtech industries
- Strong experience with complex, safety-critical engineered systems
- Hands-on experience in system integration, validation, and field deployment
- Ability to translate between software/ML and hardware engineering disciplines
- Strong analytical thinking and root-cause problem-solving skills

Additional Information
- Visa sponsorship is not currently available (may be considered in the future)
- On-site preferred, with some flexibility for remote candidates (Irvine, CA and Washington, DC considered)
