Software Engineer Forward Deployed

Neural Inverse Inc. | Seattle, WA 98101 | Full-Time | On-Site

About Neural Inverse

Neural Inverse is building the AI-native IDE for regulated and safety-critical software development. Unlike general-purpose tools like Cursor or GitHub Copilot, Neural Inverse enforces compliance rules in real time as code is written not after with a cryptographic audit trail, on-premises deployment, and full BYOLLM support. We serve engineering organizations building software for power grids, medical devices, aircraft systems, core banking, defense, automotive, and embedded firmware. Our customers cannot use standard AI coding tools. We built the one they can.

The Role

This is a forward-deployed engineering position. You will be embedded on-site with enterprise customers — watching developers use Neural Inverse in production, gathering direct feedback, identifying friction, and shipping fixes within the same week. This is the Palantir model applied to governed AI development: you are simultaneously an engineer and a customer proxy. You will have more context on real usage than anyone else at the company, and you are expected to act on it.

You will work across regulated industries energy infrastructure, medical devices, defense contractors, financial services where the software being written touches lives and must meet strict compliance frameworks (IEC 62443, IEC 62304, ISO 26262, DO-178C, MISRA C, PCI-DSS, and others).

Responsibilities

  • Embed on-site with enterprise customers and observe real-world usage of Neural Inverse firsthand
  • Translate customer feedback and observed friction directly into product improvements, bug fixes, and feature work
  • Design, develop, and maintain back-end systems and IDE infrastructure
  • Ensure software meets compliance and audit requirements relevant to healthcare, finance, defense, and critical infrastructure
  • Collaborate with product, ML, and compliance teams to ship improvements rapidly
  • Contribute to technical architecture and documentation
  • Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering quality standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, system design
  • Proficiency in back-end development Python, Go, Java, Rust, or similar
  • Advanced object-oriented programming skills
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud or on-premises infrastructure
  • Comfort working directly with enterprise customers in high-stakes, regulated environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication you will represent the product with customers
  • Experience building software for regulated industries (healthcare, finance, defense, critical infrastructure) is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC2, MISRA C, IEC standards, DO-178C) is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $100,000 – $150,000 USD/year, commensurate with experience
  • Equity (stock options)
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and flexible leave
  • Direct impact at an early-stage company solving a hard, important problem

Location

On-site — Seattle, Washington 98101. This role requires physical presence, both at our Seattle office and at customer sites. Travel to customer locations is expected and is a core part of the job.

  • Neural Inverse is an equal opportunity employer. We are building for the industries where software quality is a safety requirement and we hold our team to the same standard.
