Job Title: Assistant Scientist (Oral Solid Formulation)

🕒 Schedule: Monday–Friday, Normal Business Hours

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Scientist to support the development of oral solid dosage formulations within a pharmaceutical R&D environment. This is a hands-on laboratory role focused on formulation development, material characterization, and experimental design.
This opportunity is ideal for early-career scientists (0–3 years experience) looking to build expertise in drug product development and work in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale activities to support oral formulation development
- Design and execute experiments using Design of Experiments (DoE) approaches
- Perform formulation preparation and testing, including dissolution studies
- Utilize analytical techniques such as HPLC for testing and evaluation
- Conduct material characterization using techniques like DSC and TGA
- Analyze and trend data; document findings and communicate results effectively
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support development programs
- Travel occasionally between Summit and New Brunswick, NJ sites as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 0–3 years of relevant experience (industry or academic lab experience)
- Hands-on experience with:
- HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography)
- Dissolution testing
- Oral formulation preparation techniques
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a lab-based environment (80–90%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in formulation development or spray dried dispersions
- Familiarity with material characterization techniques (DSC, TGA)
- Exposure to pilot-scale manufacturing or scale-up processes
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools and data trending
Work Environment
- 80–90% laboratory/manufacturing setting
- 10–20% office-based work
- May require travel between local NJ sites for lab access
