Job Title: Material Handler (1st Shift) ($19.00/hr.)

Job Description

The Material Handler supports daily warehouse and production operations by safely operating forklifts, handling materials, organizing parts, and performing basic inventory tasks. This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, read simple blueprints, and use measuring tools to identify and verify parts accurately. Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

Responsibilities

  • Operate both stand-up and sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently to move materials throughout the facility.
  • Use reach trucks, pallet jacks (including electric pallet jacks), tow motors, and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport products.
  • Organize parts from crates to pallets in an orderly and efficient manner to support production and shipping activities.
  • Perform inventory counts and cycle counts of parts, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation of materials.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints to identify correct parts and verify specifications.
  • Use measuring tools, including tape measures, to confirm part dimensions and ensure accuracy.
  • Handle material picking and order picking using RF scanners and related equipment to fulfill production or shipping requirements.
  • Assist with packing, packaging, and general production tasks as needed to support workflow.
  • Unload materials from trucks or staging areas and place them in designated locations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility guidelines.
  • Follow all safety procedures when operating forklifts, bobcats, and other equipment.
  • Support general warehouse and material handling functions as assigned by leadership.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of forklift experience, including operation of stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
  • At least 1 year of warehouse experience in a production or distribution environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Proficiency in basic material handling functions, including loading, unloading, and staging products.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints to identify parts.
  • Ability to use measuring tools, including tape measures, to verify part dimensions.
  • Experience operating reach trucks, pallet jacks, and tow motors.
  • Ability to perform inventory counts and cycle counts accurately.
  • Basic familiarity with RF scanners for picking and tracking materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with electric pallet jacks and other powered industrial trucks.
  • Experience in general production, packing, picking, and packaging activities.
  • Experience using bobcats or similar equipment in a warehouse or yard environment.
  • Comfort working with various material handling tools and equipment in a fast-paced setting.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent first-shift operations.
  • Ability to work overtime when required by production or warehouse demands.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position, working Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with all overtime scheduled as needed. The role is based in a warehouse and production environment that involves frequent movement, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. You regularly operate forklifts (stand-up and sit-down), reach trucks, pallet jacks (including electric models), tow motors, and potentially bobcats, while using RF scanners and other basic warehouse tools. The facility focuses on safe and efficient material flow, with work centered around organizing parts, handling crates and pallets, and supporting general production tasks. Attire is practical and suitable for an active warehouse setting, with appropriate safety gear and equipment provided or required according to company policy.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
