Job Title: Forklift Operator (Turret)

Job Description

This role operates turret, stand-up, and sit-down forklifts in a busy distribution warehouse, handling product movement in narrow aisle racking systems. You safely maneuver equipment in tight spaces, manage pallets at various heights, and use RF scanning and warehouse management tools to ensure accurate inventory control. You support shipping, receiving, picking, put-away, and stock replenishment activities while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Operate turret forklifts to pick, move, and store products in narrow aisle racking systems.
• Safely maneuver turret, stand-up, and sit-down forklifts in tight spaces while maintaining load stability.
• Retrieve and place pallets at varying heights, including high-level racking locations.
• Perform daily equipment inspections on forklifts and pallet jacks and promptly report any maintenance needs.
• Follow all warehouse safety protocols and comply with OSHA standards and site procedures.
• Accurately scan, label, and record inventory movements using RF scan guns and warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading, staging, and verifying product.
• Support order picking, put-away, and stock replenishment to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
• Use electric pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment as needed to move and stage materials.
• Participate in cycle counts and basic inventory control tasks to maintain accurate stock levels.
• Collaborate with warehouse staff and supervisors to meet productivity and accuracy goals.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to operate a turret truck safely and efficiently in narrow aisle racking systems.
• Experience operating stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Experience operating sit-down forklifts for material handling and pallet movement.
• Ability to use RF scan guns and RF scanners to scan, track, and verify inventory.
• Hands-on experience with warehouse activities such as picking, put-away, shipping, and receiving.
• Ability to operate an electric pallet jack safely for material movement and staging.
• Capability to lift, move, and handle items weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Strong awareness of warehouse safety practices and adherence to OSHA standards.
• Attention to detail when scanning, labeling, and recording inventory movements.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a warehouse team and follow directions from supervisors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a large distribution or warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for tracking inventory and orders.
• Comfort working at height when retrieving and placing pallets in high-level racking.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain an orderly work area and manage multiple tasks.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent 2nd shift operations.

Work Environment

This position is based in a large distribution warehouse that operates on a 2nd shift schedule. You work primarily in narrow aisle racking areas using turret and stand-up forklifts, as well as sit-down forklifts and electric pallet jacks. The environment is fast-paced and production-driven, with regular interaction with shipping, receiving, and inventory teams. You will be on your feet and operating equipment for most of the shift, handling products and pallets that can weigh up to 50 lbs. The facility follows established safety procedures and OSHA standards, and you are expected to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout your shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edison, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Edison,NJ.
