Job Description

This role leads and manages plumbing crews on commercial and industrial construction projects, overseeing daily field operations from layout through final inspection. You ensure all plumbing systems are installed to code, completed on schedule and within budget, and delivered with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and effective coordination with other trades.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of plumbing crews on commercial and industrial job sites.
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans to determine accurate plumbing layouts and installation procedures.
• Plan and schedule work assignments, manpower, materials, and equipment to meet project timelines and budget goals.
• Ensure all plumbing installations comply with applicable codes, regulations, and internal quality standards.
• Monitor job progress, identify potential delays or issues, and provide timely updates to project managers.
• Train, mentor, and support plumbing apprentices and journeymen to build skills and maintain high performance standards.
• Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols and best practices at all times.
• Communicate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades to coordinate work and resolve conflicts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to plumbing systems, materials, and installations in the field.
• Manage inventory of plumbing materials and tools and place orders as needed to prevent delays.
• Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks throughout the project lifecycle to verify workmanship and compliance.
• Oversee and participate in plumbing installation work on commercial and industrial job sites, including cast iron and mechanical systems and work around heavy equipment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in commercial and industrial plumbing.
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or foreman role leading plumbing crews.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials used in commercial and industrial construction.
• Expert ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and schematics to perform accurate material layouts on site.
• Extensive experience with commercial and industrial construction environments and plumbing installations.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to direct, motivate, and develop crew members.
• Strong communication and organizational skills for coordinating work and reporting progress.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex plumbing and installation issues in the field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical or trade school certification in plumbing or a related field preferred.
• Experience with cast iron and mechanical plumbing systems in industrial settings.
• Familiarity with working around and coordinating with heavy equipment operations on job sites.
• Proficiency in using project management and scheduling software is a plus.
• OSHA certification preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades.

Work Environment

Work takes place primarily on active commercial and industrial construction job sites. The role is field-based and involves overseeing and performing plumbing installations in environments that may include cast iron and mechanical systems and work around heavy equipment. You can expect a fast-paced setting with close coordination among multiple trades and contractors, adherence to safety standards, and the use of standard plumbing tools, equipment, and construction documentation such as blueprints and project plans. Hours typically follow standard construction schedules, with potential for varying start times based on project needs.

This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
