The Advanced Systems Engineer will focus on underbody system development (mechanical package, chassis kinematics, powertrain package, chassis system selection) for future production vehicles.

In addition to demonstrated vehicle chassis experience and problem-solving skills, applicants must possess a passion for performance and strong interest in technology. Applicants will be required to interface with teams that include vehicle dynamics specialists, mechanical and e-drive powertrain engineers, NVH experts, road load durability teams, and performance attribute owners allowing for numerous opportunities to expand technical knowledge in a wide area of automotive technologies, systems, and components. 

This is a hybrid role requiring at least 4 days per week in the Allen Park, MI office.

What you'll do…

  • Work with the Ford Racing planning team in the development of future production and motorsports vehicles focusing on chassis, powertrain and body structure systems.  Projects may include ground-up vehicles or platform derivatives for track or off-road segments.
  • Coordinate design efforts between cross-functional activities (D&R, Vehicle Engineering, Chassis, VO, Suppliers) to ensure architectural compatibility between mechanical package, occupants and intended design requirements.
  • Lead development of solutions and alternatives to meet the mechanical package and related targets.
  • Develop and maintain suspension and tire motion models, system selection documents and program Specific data in support of the vehicle design.
