Position Summary

Ophthalmic Specialist of Michigan (OSM) is currently hiring a full-time Fluorescein Angiography Technician to work at their Dearborn and Livonia offices. This is a day-shift Monday through Friday.

A Fluorescein Angiography Technician, is responsible for performing and assisting with fluorescein angiography procedures. This involves capturing high-quality images of the retina using specialized imaging equipment, preparing patients, and collaborating with ophthalmologists. The technician also plays a role in patient education, documentation, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Performing Angiography:This includes capturing images using fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography, which involves injecting a dye and photographing the retinal blood vessels.
• Patient Preparation:Explaining the procedure to patients, addressing concerns, and ensuring their comfort and safety during the process.
• Equipment Operation and Maintenance:Operating and maintaining specialized retinal imaging equipment like fundus cameras.
• Collaboration and Analysis:Working with ophthalmologists to analyze angiographic images and contribute to diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Documentation:Accurately recording patient information and test results.
• Quality Control:Ensuring high-quality images and adhering to safety protocols.
• Training and Support:Assisting with the training of new staff and participating in research or clinical trials.

Qualifications

• Technical Proficiency:Strong understanding of fluorescein angiography and other retinal imaging techniques.
• Equipment Expertise:Ability to operate and maintain specialized ophthalmic equipment.
• Anatomical Knowledge:Understanding of retinal anatomy and pathology.
• Communication Skills:Ability to effectively communicate with patients and other healthcare professionals.
• Attention to Detail:Meticulous in image capture, documentation, and quality control.
• Interpersonal Skills:Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

In addition to the core responsibilities, a solid understanding of various retinal diseases and conditions is often necessary. In essence, a Fluorescein Angiography Technician plays a critical role in the diagnosis and management of retinal conditions by providing high-quality imaging and contributing to patient care.
