Job Title: Floater Operator
Job Description

The Floater Operator position is essential to our production area, acting as a versatile team member who will transition between the Dry Room, Coating, and Formulation areas. This role is perfect for a jack of all trades who is adaptable and ready to take on various tasks within the electrode manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage the drying process after electrode coating in the Dry Room.
  • Handle machine start-up, load machines with coating mixtures, and troubleshoot process issues in the Coating department.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks and ensure the quality of the finished product.
  • Document all processes accurately and become a subject matter expert in the roll-to-roll process of slot die coating.
  • Understand process capabilities through design of experiment and data analysis.
  • Develop and optimize process conditions for new materials, recipes, and designs.
  • Lead new process development from validation at pilot scales to mass production scale-up.
  • Drive a multi-functional team to solve complex technical problems using first principles and data-driven methodologies.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in machine operation within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting automated machines.
  • Responsibility for in-process and finished product quality in manufacturing.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Capability to lift 50lbs and perform tasks that involve bending and squatting.
  • Use of steel-toed shoes for safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with operating mechanical slitter, calender, coater, or punching equipment.

Work Environment

Work in a clean environment tailored for battery manufacturing. Although the coating area might get slightly messy due to coating materials, it remains quite clean. The facility is temperature-controlled, maintaining around 75 degrees even during summer. The position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
