Job Title: Floater Operator (Janitorial and Production Support) – 1st Shift
Job Description

This role combines janitorial duties with hands-on support in a clean, quiet production environment. You will maintain facility cleanliness, assist with basic production tasks, and support machine operators with quality checks and part finishing. The position runs on a consistent 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with no weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms and office areas to maintain a safe and orderly facility.
  • Sweep production and warehouse floors to keep work areas free of debris and hazards.
  • Operate a handheld floor scrubber to wash and maintain the production floor.
  • Collect and remove waste by transporting 55-gallon garbage bins to the outside dumpster.
  • Assist machine operators with quality checks on parts to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Support deburring of parts to remove sharp edges and prepare components for further processing.
  • Learn and support basic machine operation tasks as training is provided, including potential work with a saw and Bridgeport machine.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe material handling.
  • Work collaboratively with production staff to keep the facility organized, efficient, and clean throughout the shift.
Essential Skills
  • Familiarity with a production or manufacturing environment and its safety practices.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately to support training on machine operation.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work a full-time 1st shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic to complete both janitorial and production support tasks.
  • Attention to detail when assisting with quality checks and deburring parts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Willingness to learn new skills, including operation of a saw and Bridgeport machine.
  • Comfort using basic production tools and equipment after training.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a manufacturing setting.
  • Steel-toed boots or shoes, as required for work on the production floor.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean and quiet shop that is comfortable and not excessively hot. You will work on the production floor and in office and restroom areas, using equipment such as handheld floor scrubbers and basic production tools. The schedule is 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with no Saturdays required. The environment is a production/manufacturing setting where safety and cleanliness are priorities, and steel-toed boots or shoes are required as part of the dress code.

This is a Contract position based out of Livonia, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
