Job Title: FLEX Director, AI Privacy  Note: this is a FLEX position, contracted through end of 2026 Marriott is seeking an AI privacy specialist with a strategic mindset and keen eye for detail to support the responsible and compliant use of AI. As part of the Data, Analytics, and AI organization, the Director of AI Privacy will promote and support a culture of ethics and compliance at Marriott. This role is a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for advancing the customer data privacy agenda in the use of AI internally and externally.  Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading the AI Privacy Product: Partner with Legal, Technology, the Gen AI Studio, Data Governance, Global information Security, and business disciplines on various cross-functional efforts, including, but not limited to:
  • Designing and implementing Agentic AI guidelines, ensuring compliance with Marriott’s privacy principles and policies.
  • Developing and implementing AI launch privacy accountability processes and mechanisms.
  • Partnering with AI Governance to maintain AI model and agent inventories.
  • Maintaining and facilitating the AI risk assessment process.
  • Overseeing the Responsible AI testing process (e.g., bias testing).
  • Leading change management efforts and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Staying abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and rapidly evolving legal and regulatory landscape surrounding AI, privacy, and data governance.
  • Support special projects and inquiries for Global Privacy needs.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director, AI and Privacy on the Privacy roadmap.

 

Candidate Profile Required:
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s) or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, data science, engineering, risk, law, or policy.
  • 7+ years of professional experience with progressive growth.
  • 3+ years in data privacy or protection (retail or hospitality preferred).
  • Ability to define, implement, and monitor AI safety controls, including human‑in‑the‑loop mechanisms, logging, monitoring, testing, and incident response processes.
  • Proven experience operationalizing AI safety, risk, or governance programs within an enterprise environment, with direct accountability for execution, controls, and outcomes. 
  • Deep working knowledge of AI/ML systems (including generative AI), model lifecycles, data pipelines, and deployment patterns sufficient to assess real‑world safety, privacy, and misuse risks. 
  • Clear, practical communicator, with executive presentation skills. 
  • Capable of briefing executives on AI risks, tradeoffs, and mitigation status without excessive technical or theoretical framing.
  • Experience with third‑party AI tools and vendors, including due diligence, contractual safety requirements, and ongoing oversight. 
  • Track record of influencing without authority, driving adoption of safety practices across distributed teams.
  • Strong program management and execution discipline, with the ability to track deliverables, dependencies, and risks across multiple concurrent AI initiatives. 
Preferred:
  • Experience managing AI‑related incidents or escalations, including triage, remediation, root‑cause analysis, and executive reporting. 
  • Knowledge of digital personalization practices.
  • Experience operationalizing global and regional AI privacy laws (e.g., Colorado AI Act, EU AI Act).
  • IAPP, AIGP, CDPSE Certification (or similar).
  • Management consulting experience.
