FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Fleet Vehicle Specialist.

JOB SUMMARY:

Candidate for this position will assist with the total operation of the Mobile Information Technology Center and the Mobile Health Unit. Additionally, this person will provide oversight of the Cooperative Extension Bus, Freezer, Truck, Dump Truck, and other vehicles as needed. The person provides maintenance service for extension fleet vehicles including keeping maintenance records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Upkeep of vehicle fleet (Tags, state compliance).
  • Driving mobile unites to various destinations in and out of state.
  • Setup of the units; maintain security of equipment.
  • Keeps fuel and maintenance logs.
  • Vehicle request reports; maintenance contracts.
  • Assists with the purchase of new vehicles to the fleet as necessary.
  • Drives and maintains the Cooperative Extension bus (for Cooperative Extension business).
  • Must be customer oriented.
  • Problem solving skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Five years over the road driving.
  • Commercial Driver License
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report 5 years.
  • Passing of Department of Transportation physical and current DOT Card
  • Have the knowledge and use of power and hand tools to complete assigned tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The working conditions should be identified in this section – regular evening and weekend work, shift work, working outdoors, and so forth.

  • Travel required – flexible availability for mobile unit.
  • Evening/night/weekend work occasionally – Monday – Friday 8AM – 5PM.
  • Working outdoors on occasions as necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical requirement of the job relates to the unit. There may be a need to lift objects that are up to 50lbs. in weight.
