Job Description

The Flagger supports roadway construction and maintenance projects by safely directing traffic around active work zones. This role works entirely outdoors, typically 8–10 hours per day, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays. After completing a required online training and a paid in-person orientation, you will be dispatched from home each day via a mobile app to various job sites within approximately a one-hour radius.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control traffic using stop/slow paddles, hand signals, and radios to maintain safe and orderly movement through work zones.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barricades in accordance with company and state standards.
  • Monitor road and worksite conditions and adjust traffic control patterns as needed to protect workers, drivers, and pedestrians.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with crew members, supervisors, and the public to coordinate safe operations.
  • Participate in and complete a 3–4 hour online traffic control training course prior to attending orientation.
  • Work at various locations within a one-hour radius of the shop, including areas in and around Fellsburg, Dunbar, Uniontown, Irwin,Carmichaels, & Connellsville.

Essential Skills

  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Ability to work 100% outdoors on active construction and roadway projects in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and remain focused and attentive throughout long shifts.
  • Ability to lift 30–50 pounds and handle traffic control equipment such as cones, signs, and barricades.
  • Strong situational awareness to recognize and respond to changing traffic and worksite conditions.
  • Traffic control or flagging certification (or willingness to obtain one through the provided training).
  • Comfort using a smartphone and web browser (such as Chrome) to complete online training and access dispatch information.
  • Ownership of steel toe or composite toe boots that extend above the ankle, to be worn in the field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior flagging, traffic control, or roadway construction experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in general labor or construction environments is helpful.
  • Willingness to complete a 3–4 hour online flagging course prior to orientation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Canonsburg, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
