Position Description

The North American Leveraged Finance Sales and Trading team is considering candidates for a Performing and Special Situations Corporate Credit Desk Analyst

The role is designed for an entrepreneurial and motivated Executive Director level candidate.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work on the Leveraged Finance sales and trading desk with credit traders and salespeople to facilitate sales and trading business, including:
  • Analyzing corporate credit trade ideas across the high yield, leveraged loan, and distressed credit universe
  • Single name fundamental analysis (e.g. financial, capital structure, corporate structure, building detailed financial models for financing transactions, having an understanding of restructuring and or bankruptcy process in the United States)
  • Sourcing, analyzing, and structuring performing and special situation opportunities (performing catalyst driven trades, special situation trades, lending, potential rescue financing opportunities, NPL portfolio trades),
  • Communicate with Clients regarding potential trade ideas and sector views

Skills Required

The ideal candidate will have the following experience / skills:

  • Ideal applicant has 7 years working experience of sell-side/buy-side financial analysis
  • Solid credit and structuring skills
  • Good understanding of bond, loan documentation and credit default swaps
  • High level communication and networking skills including well developed presentation skills to be able to effectively communicate relevant trading /investment ideas to customers and or risk managers
  • Confident entrepreneurial personality
  • Minimum degree qualification or equivalent from recognized university. Ideally in quantitative discipline (such as math, physics, engineering) or in accounting / finance.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $250,000 and $300,000 USD per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
