SUMMARY:


The Fiscal Technician provides frontline customer service to students and families who call, email, or visit the Office of Student Billing. This employee will process and monitor different programs that involve payment, waivers, etc. to student accounts and will maintain general accounts receivables for the university.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Monitor thestudent-billing@iup.edu email account.
• Assist students and families at the counter.
• Assist students and families that call the office.
• Post payments to student accounts – payments made via check, cash, credit card, etc.
• Separate incoming mail and route to appropriate office staff.
• Maintain the daily deposit of monies received in the office.
• Monitor and maintain collections.
• Maintain alternative loans and reconciliation.
• Direct loan reconciliation.
• Process waivers – tuition, wellness, PASSHE, dual enrollment, etc.
• Process withdrawals and drop-deletes.
• Process military awards – Chapter 31, 33, Army Ignited, EAP, MFEP, etc.
• Process OVR awards.
• Process refunds for student accounts.
• Process financial aid disbursement to student accounts.
• Process daily reclassification and reconciliation.
• Process external scholarships.
• Process the daily ACH file download.
• Collaborate with AP area for stop payments of refund checks.
• Maintain general accounts receivable duties.
• Process PASSHE course sharing programs.
• Maintain Office of Student Billing website.
• Supervise student workers.
• Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • One year as a Fiscal Assistant.
or
  • Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices.
and
  • Graduation from high school.
or
  • One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an Associate degree in accounting or business administration.
or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

The salary for this position is determined by the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This position notifies:

1. Any internal regular Fiscal Assistant of an opportunity to submit a bid for promotion to a Fiscal Technician position; or

2. Any part-time, regular Fiscal Technician employee of an opportunity to submit a bid for full-time status; or

3. If no seniority bids are received, the position will consider external candidates that have applied.
