Firmware Software Engineer – Graphics & Display Systems

Location: Fully Onsite at Redmond, WA

Contract Duration: 12 months on W2

Pay Rate: $90/hr

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to develop high-performance, low-level systems that power advanced graphics and display pipelines.

In this role, you’ll work close to the hardware, solving complex system challenges and enabling immersive, real-time experiences on constrained devices.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware in C/C++ across multiple processors and platforms
  • Build and enhance firmware for graphics and display pipelines to support AR use cases
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to tailor drivers, firmware, and system stacks
  • Debug complex issues spanning hardware and software; deliver both immediate fixes and long-term solutions
  • Develop and maintain test frameworks, including unit, manual, and CI/CD automation
  • Contribute to system architecture, performance tuning, and reliability improvements


Must Have Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in embedded firmware development
  • 10+ years of strong programming experience in C and C++
  • Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment)
  • Scripting experience (Python or similar) for tooling and test automation
  • Knowledge of AR/VR technologies and/or basic understanding of Graphics and Display systems is a plus.
  • Experience with RTOS and multi-threaded application development
  • Expert problem solving skills to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues.
  • Experience debugging across hardware/software boundaries
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field


Nice to Have Qualifications

  • Experience with graphics/display systems or AR/VR technologies
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in complex systems
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
