GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Finishing Manager Paint is a full-time, on-site role based at AFCO Industries’ facility in Alexandria, LA. This role oversees all paint and finishing operations, ensuring products meet quality, safety, and production standards. Manages all daily operations of paint line and wastewater, including personnel, equipment, products, and processes.


EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)


  1. Ensure effective employee relations by creating personal growth opportunities through training and growing employees into better positions in the department and in the company, making employment decisions of employees, and resolving problem issues quickly.
  2. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel.
  3. Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplish work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems and reporting results of the process flow.
  4. Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orientating, and training employees to ensure daily production quotas are met, as well as increase bench depth and growth within the department.
  5. Manage normal personnel requirements specifically as it deals with accidents, department priorities, absenteeism, timekeeping, and quality. Manages employee time in company’s current timekeeping system.
  6. Monitor all equipment and ensure routine maintenance is being completed as well as communicating any major breakdowns to the appropriate supervisors and maintenance personnel to ensure it is corrected quickly.
  7. Review processes and procedures to make sure daily, weekly, and monthly checks are completed on time and completed properly.
  8. Review equipment for any updates, or maintenance to ensure an efficient, consistent operation.
  9. Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
  10. Continuous improvement of the department.
  11. Manage department performance measures, including visual controls and provide regular progress reports to manager.
  12. Monitor all systems in place to ensure a smooth flow of materials through the system for daily production requirements. Specifically work with the Paint Technician, Materials Coordinator, and Leadman to ensure proper working order.
  13. Learn and utilize AFCO ERP and AFCO specific programs for continual information feedback to other departments.
  14. Coordinate with Scheduling daily to ensure proper production requirements are met.
  15. Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  16. Coordinate activities with other departments in the plant to grow teamwork and ensure the efficient and effective flow of materials and personnel through the facility.
  17. Works within the guidelines of the quality program.
  18. Insures good housekeeping in work area.
  19. Reports problems or accidents to management immediately.
  20. Gives proper consideration to safety on each job and abides by all company safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  21. Performs related work as required.


PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:   Ability to communicate using all forms of written, verbal and electronic communication tools. Ability to work with and direct the activities of employees. Knowledge of safety, as well as continuous improvement processes. Must be able to manage multiple shifts, each shift having about 13 people. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Education: Some college preferred; High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of managing a powder coating line, preferably an automated, continuous moving horizontal line. Minimum of 8 years in a manufacturing environment.
