Description
Summary:
The Financial Services Officer will cultivate and develop relationships in an effort to provide service that is meaningful and relevant to the individual Member. The FSO will consult with Members regarding their consumer lending needs and will analyze loan requests and make credit decisions based on established consumer lending guidelines. In addition, the FSO will open accounts, resolve issues, and provide information and guidance to Members on the products and services offered by Alabama ONE.
Responsibilities:
- Assists Members with financial needs including opening and closing accounts, transferring funds, issuing debit cards, and resolving issues; serves as a resource to the retail branch TEAM, and may conduct teller transactions when necessary
- Under general guidance, confers with Members and provides recommendations and guidance related to lending needs; conducts initial review of loan requests and provides appropriate information to underwriters for review; communicates lending decisions with Members
- Supports branch Member retention and relationship development through regular contact with existing and potential Members; through contact with Members, will develop sales leads and cross-sell additional products and services
- Serves as a source of information on membership requirements, services, and rights; maintains a thorough, working knowledge of Alabama One products and services
- Utilize communication skills during moments of member engagement to uncover and identify service and product needs making appropriate suggestions as needed
- Ensures appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared
- Proactively facilitates member interactions, answers inquiries, identifies needs to make suggestions for products and services accordingly, makes referrals to partners as needed.
- Operates in a manner which is consistent with Alabama One’s mission statement.
- Projects a professional appearance and observes the credit union dress code as defined in the Employee Handbook.
- Support client relationship management through member service focused interactions that encourage retention and loyalty.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information regarding credit union records, personnel files and internal matters.
- Assists with safe deposit box rental agreements and assists members with access to safe boxes as needed.
- Ensure all established policies and procedures are followed during completion of operational tasks to minimize and mitigate risks.
- Leverage various risk management tools and technologies to help in identifying, analyzing, and monitoring risks, enabling proactive decision-making in the new member on-boarding process.
- Partners with Market Manager to help identify loan opportunities for new and existing members.
- Engage in ongoing training conducive for job role to enhance skills, maintain proficiency levels, and help improve overall job performance.
- Assist with operational assignments such as, but not limited to, reviewing mobile and ITM checks for potential holds, reviewing exception reports, data integrity actions, queue management, deposit account audits & corrections, and account maintenance projects assigned by the Operations Team.
- Assists management in the handling of customer dissatisfaction, seeks to resolve appropriately.
- Maintains a dependable record of attendance and timeliness.
- Assists teller team within the branch during short-staffed situations to maintain and ensure service quality.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2+ years of experience in financial services, banking, or customer-facing financial roles
- Available for travel
- Effective communicator
- Exhibit excellent teamwork with a positive, professional demeanor
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with financial software
- Ability to quickly learn and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Alabama One products and services, including consumer loans and procedures related to new account sales
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2–5+ years in financial services, banking, or lending, with a proven track record of meeting lending goals
