Job DescriptionThis position will be supporting the Accounting Division, within the Department of Financial Services. This position may be performing the following activities: develop, analyze, reconcile, and validate financial data; research and interpret accounting standards and other guidance; prepare GAAP financial statements and other major financial reports; document processes and procedures; support year end external financial audit; provide technical accounting support to other departments and divisions in problem solving and developing new processes.
Essential Duties- Create and disseminate monthly financial report, budget in brief, budget document, annual comprehensive financial report, and other annual reporting requirements assigned both independently and collaboratively.
- Independently and accurately perform complex financial analysis including the preparation of spreadsheets, reports, charts, tables and graphs.
- Perform in-depth analysis of variances between budgeted and actual revenues and expenditures.
- Analyze, reconcile and validate a variety of financial data and information.
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly tasks accurately with high attention to detail and prior to the deadline.
- Resolve problems requiring in-depth research and thorough analysis.
- Assist department with the documentation of processes and procedures, as needed.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Additionally, this role is expected to exhibit the following:
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal guidance.
- Able to effectively work under pressure.
- Produce a quality work product within tight time constraints.
- Independently research, collect, organize, analyze and compile information with minimal supervision.
GradeThe grade for this position is C42(1).
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field AND
- Four (4) years of professional level accounting experience, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
- Accounting experience working in the Public Sector.
