Job Summary

Position Summary

  • The Business Department Financial Analyst provides data-driven financial support to hospital departments, with a focus on revenue analysis, cost management, and profitability improvement. The role partners with clinical leadership, operations, and revenue cycle teams to produce actionable insights and ensure accurate financial reporting. The analyst combines advanced Excel skills with a solid understanding of hospital operations and payer dynamics to optimize financial performance. The analyst has the capability to improve efficiency by automating or improving services through the use of business AI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth revenue analysis on hospital AR foPr hospital departments, service lines, and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain, and automate dashboards, and reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as net AR days, net patient revenue, denials management and accounts receivable aging.
  • Analyze variance explanations between actuals, budget, and forecast; provide actionable recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Coding, Case Management, and Department Leadership to identify opportunities for revenue optimization, charge capture improvements, and denial reduction.
  • Assist with reserves and reporting for month-end
  • Perform analysis to support Director and Controller with monthly close processes.
  • Monitor payer contract performance.
  • Identify and quantify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains across departments using AI.
  • Maintain documentation of methodologies, assumptions, and controls to support audit readiness.
  • Support ad-hoc analyses and special projects as requested by Director, Controller or CFO.
Responsibilities

Protect life, property, information, and reputation by employing situational awareness; monitoring and securing designated entrances/exits; observing the flow of employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors, and visitors into the facility; verifying credentials, and providing directions to authorized areas. Evaluate and respond in a timely manner to events and incidents in accordance with System policies. Provides exceptional customer service to staff, patients, visitors, and physicians. Respond immediately, or as the appropriate, to emergency/unusual situations including disturbances, disruptive employees, patients, vendors & visitors, fires, and medical emergencies (i.e., including, but not limited to restraining agitated patients in accordance with Tenet Corporate Security and facility policy). Prepares and submits all required incident documentation according to Tenet Corporate Security and facility policies and procedures. Maintains in-depth knowledge of all security orders, written and oral, pertaining to assigned duties, as well as working knowledge of regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Economics, or related fields required.

  • Proven experience (1-3 years preferred) in financial analysis within a healthcare or hospital setting.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including:

  • Complex formulas and pivot tables

  • VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, MACROS, dynamic named ranges

  • Creating and maintaining automated dashboards and reports

  • Experience with revenue analysis, financials, payer mix, chargemaster, coding/capturing revenue, and metrics used in hospital revenue cycle and accounting.

  • Experience with business intelligence platforms for data analysis.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills; detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial audiences.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills; experience presenting to department leaders and executives.

  • Time management and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.

  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance considerations affecting hospital finance (e.g., CMS rules, DRGs, ICD-10 coding implications) is a plus.
