Job Title: Field Service Technician

Job Description

This Field Service Technician role supports mission-critical water purification systems used in pharmaceutical, life science, industrial power, electronics, and manufacturing environments. You will maintain and troubleshoot moderate to complex mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment that produces ultra-pure water for critical applications. Candidates with backgrounds in HVAC, automotive, diesel, plumbing, or other integrated automated systems often excel in this position. Comprehensive training is provided to help you transfer your existing technical skills into high-tech water purification technologies, with clear opportunities for advancement and strong benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field maintenance on high-purity water systems at customer sites.
  • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting on systems that affect water system efficiency and chemical purity.
  • Assist the installation team with commissioning and startup of new water systems as needed.
  • Document all work performed, including parts used and time spent, in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with service management and engineering teams to identify system or component issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Partner with customers to consistently manage and maintain their water systems and support them in best practices for reliable system performance.
  • Build and maintain effective, trusted working relationships with customers through professional communication and service.
  • Communicate with the Technical Service Center regarding service contract issues and service-related updates.
  • Use safe work practices while driving, working in the shop, and performing tasks at customer facilities.
  • Maintain exceptionally neat and organized work areas, including service vehicles, the shop, and all work sites.
  • Participate in regular on-call rotation assignments to support customer needs outside standard hours.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall success of the service operation.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in equipment service operations, preferably in customer-facing environments.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with exposure to commercial or industrial systems.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment, such as HVAC, automotive, diesel, or similar systems.
  • Ability to understand and work with instrumentation and controls.
  • Experience with plumbing or water-related systems is highly relevant.
  • Demonstrated skill in diagnostics and systematic problem solving for equipment issues.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in time-sensitive situations.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with common applications such as web browsers and office productivity tools (e.g., Word and Excel).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and no recent moving or driving violations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without restriction and perform frequent walking, bending, climbing, stooping, and standing for extended periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in HVAC, automotive, diesel, or other automated electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience with installation or startup of equipment and systems, particularly water purification systems, is a plus.
  • Comfort working in industrial or manufacturing environments with complex equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with customers through clear communication and reliable follow-through.
  • Energetic and proactive approach to learning new technologies and processes.
  • Interest in long-term career growth, with opportunities to progress through multiple technician levels that include pay increases.
  • Ability to work overtime regularly, with the potential for significant additional hours.
  • Preference for candidates who demonstrate stable work history and a track record of taking on varied service tasks rather than repetitive maintenance alone.

Work Environment

The majority of work takes place in industrial settings within customer facilities, including pharmaceutical, life science, power, electronics, and manufacturing sites. You will travel locally on a regular basis, with an average of seven overnight stays per month to support customer locations. The role includes participation in a regular on-call rotation, which may require response outside of standard business hours. Work conditions involve frequent walking, bending, climbing, stooping, and standing for long periods on concrete surfaces, as well as lifting up to 50 pounds. You will operate and maintain a service vehicle and are expected to keep vehicles, shop areas, and job sites clean, orderly, and professional. The position offers unlimited overtime opportunities, with many technicians averaging around 55 hours per week, along with strong benefits and clear pathways for advancement through multiple technician levels.
