Pinnacle Partners is partnering with our esteemed client in Indianapolis, IN for a Field services Project Manager for a fulltime, direct hire role with Benefits. Below are the details:


Duties:

  • This person is responsible for managing the projects installation (after the project has been sold, designed, and built)
  • Will oversee FAT’s and final run-off’s at the facility before the equipment goes to the site. Sometimes, this step may have to be done at the customer site due to equipment size
  • Expectation is to be on site during kick off meeting and during project testing/installation at the client site. Longest project is 6 weeks, and typically this person comes home on the weekends.
  • Will make courtesy visits to customers (ex: 3 months after equipment is installed, will visit the customer and see how things are going)
  • May take point on warranty issues the customer may have
  • This is also a hands-on role- won’t just sit and manage from afar- expected to get their hands dirty, turn a wrench, troubleshoot software, etc.
  • Client hires contractors to install equipment- so this person is coordinating their schedule, action items, completion dates, material arrival, etc.
  • Hands-on, will need to be advanced in understanding electricity and machine installation
  • Would be a nice to have to understand or “touch up” PLC programs or ladder logic
  • In this role, could be gone 3-4 days out of the week some weeks, other weeks may not be as travel heavy. Some projects may require on site attendance all week, for multiple weeks.
  • Assist floor fabrication to make sure system/equipment is being made correctly
  • Customers are companies like Yamaha, Bastian, Milwaukee tool- any company that would clean, e-coat, or powder coat products. Has equipment all over the USA.
  • Projects go from concept to drawing, to customer approval, to the manufacturing floor to be made. This process can take a few weeks to up to 12 months. It can take up to 3 years to complete a sale of one piece of equipment
  • This client will rely on outside vendors sometimes for things like certain programming needs (JD Automation) and buy their motors from a supplier, and will buy certain thinks like pipe/fittings from a supplier
  • From an electrical standpoint- able to plug in and read Allen Bradley PLC code, HMI screens, and have enough knowledge to look at a cabinet, trace a wire, troubleshoot electrical and software issues.
  • Up to 70% travel


Required Skills (Must have):

  • 5+ YOE in a similar role, with 2+ years of leadership experience also
  • Hands on field service- automated equipment of some kind (conveyors, powder coating systems, paint systems, heat treating systems, etc.)
  • Experience with commissioning, FAT, kick-off meetings of said projects
  • Ability to read prints, understand mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Ability to travel, upwards of 70% (Travel could be a duration of 2-6 weeks, home on weekends) or could be 1-2 day per week- depends on the project. Other weeks won’t have any travel.
  • Ability to read, troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi), HMI screens (C-more), and knowledge of electrical systems (cabinets, how panels are wired, troubleshooting sensors, etc.) to troubleshoot said systems
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, MET, or related Engineering field
  • Experience with scheduling (admin work, coordinating vendors, coordinating shipments and equipment, etc.)


Preferred Skills (Nice to have):

  • Experience working with customers on warranty, service, or general issues that may happen during the installation phase
  • Understanding of Robotics programming (Omron, Mitsubishi)
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience with a machine builder, or worked for a company that builds/installs their own machinery
  • Experience installing painting, e coating, powder coating systems would be awesome. Another skill from the hiring manager was something like ovens, furnaces, etc.
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish, understanding schedules and budget requirements
