Farm Crew - Order Coordinator

Description

As our Order Coordinator, you’ll be the hub connecting our farm’s harvest to our customers. You’ll manage order fulfillment for three sales channels—wholesale, retail, and our café—while keeping our wet storage tank inventory accurate and your work area clean and organized. You’ll also pitch in with the broader farm crew on planting, harvesting, sorting, and cleaning as needed.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Fulfill wholesale, retail, and café orders accurately and on time.
  • Monitor and manage product inventory in wet storage tanks.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of orders and inventory.
  • Operate forklifts and trucks safely (training provided as needed).
  • Keep the wet storage area clean, organized, and compliant with environmental regulations.
  • Maintain and clean equipment regularly.


Farm Crew Support

  • Assist with oyster harvesting, seed planting, and husbandry.
  • Collaborate with the team on sorting and cleaning tasks.
  • General
  • Communicate clearly with teammates, managers, and guests in English (verbal and written).
  • Abide by all Hog Island company rules, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Actively participate in required safety trainings and meetings, and apply safe work practices on the job every day.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to your supervisor promptly.
  • Arrive on time and maintain a reliable attendance record.

Requirements

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition, the individual must be punctual, have a good attendance record, and have reliable means of transportation to work.

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a marine environment; swimming proficiency required.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
  • Basic computer skills, including Google Sheets.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Marshall, CA worksite.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Forklift operation experience.
  • Experience with power tools.
  • Boat handling experience.
  • Boat handling experience


Physical Demands

This is a physically demanding role. You should be able to:

  • Lift and carry items over 50 lbs repeatedly and safely.
  • Stand, walk, and use your hands and arms throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Walk on uneven, outdoor surfaces.
  • Work in a high-noise, fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
