PART -TIME FACULTY Position Summary Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy seeks part -time instructors for all three locations; Fox Point, Brookfield, and Third Ward. Part -time faculty are responsible for delivering high -quality instruction to students age 2 – 21 years old in a variety of levels in classical ballet technique. Teachers may be scheduled for the traditional school year (fall through spring), Summer Intensive, and summer camps and classes. This is a part -time hourly position with competitive pay based on experience. Responsibilities • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and teacher training on MBSA curriculum and school initiatives. • Create a caring and compassionate classroom community among students by providing encouragement and a positive approach . • Instill focu s and discipline in the classroom and rehearsal spaces while fostering a love of dance for both recreational students and those aspiring to a professional career. • Maintain student behavior requirements and expectations while exhibiting patience, grace, and understanding with a professional, inclusive, and appropriate approach to enforcing discipline. • Provide challenging yet age -appropriate instruction based on MBSA curriculum and standards. • Develop creative class material that actively engages students . • Competently differentiate instruction to best accommodate each student ’s needs. • Ensure students are progressing according to curriculum standards and benchmarks by formally evaluating students twice yearly and helping to facilitate adjudicated evaluation classes. • Provide clear and articulate feedback to parents and students based on students’ evaluations and performance in bi -annual Parent/Teacher conferences. • Communicate professionally and collaboratively with students, parents, and school employees. • Support MBSA families and students in their dance education and development by providing career advice and mentorship. • Rehearse and set repertoire for student s in MBSA showcases. • Attend Milwaukee Ballet performances (complimentary ticket s provided) and be an ambassador for Milwaukee Ballet and MBSA at community and/or school events , performances, and functions. • Help facilitate and support School showcases and f unctions. • Follow all Milwaukee Ballet employee and MBSA instructor policies, including: p roviding updates on programming, student progress, placements, and behavioral issues to the General Manager, Heads of Training, or School Administrative staff , monitor emails and respond in a timely manner to all communications , accurately track student attendance, behavior, and progress as required. • Other duties as assigned. Background & Qualifications • High School diploma or equivalent • Professional dance training/experience in ballet or college degree in dance preferred. • Instructional background strongly preferred. Knowledge in; o Beginning classical ballet for students ages 7- 10 years o Intermediate classical ballet which includes experience teaching beginning pointe o Pre-professional classical ballet, pointe, variations, men’s class, and Pas de Deux o Staging and rehearsing classical work for student performances • Exceptional knowledge of classical ballet • Able to present oneself in a positive, inclusive, and professional way. • Knowledge of differing pedag ogical app roaches and classroom management techniques. • Must be willing to work in a flexible working environment where classes may occur between 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM with seasonal changes to scheduling , subject to individual’s availability . • Willingness to travel to performance venues and other locations as required. • All qualified candidates must be 18 years or older and pass an extensive background check.
