Job Summary
The Facilities Technician – HVAC/Mechanical - Electrical Level II supports the maintenance, repair, and operation of facility systems and equipment, with a focus on HVAC and mechanical infrastructure. Working under moderate supervision, this role assists in diagnosing issues, executing maintenance activities, and ensuring safe, reliable facility operations. The position also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives while developing technical capabilities through structured training programs.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Identify, report, and mitigate workplace hazards; ensure safe execution of all maintenance activities.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and support emergency preparedness systems.
- Ensure compliance with HSEMS, ISO standards, and audit requirements.
Facilities Maintenance & Operations
- Assist in diagnosing and repairing HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems including chillers, cooling towers, compressors, boilers, and ventilation systems.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance using maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo).
- Support facility operations including utilities, temperature control, lighting, and equipment upkeep.
- Troubleshoot breakdowns and ensure timely resolution to minimize downtime.
- Maintain and calibrate facility equipment and ensure readiness for operations.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose system malfunctions using test equipment, software tools, and engineering drawings (P&IDs, SLDs).
- Support engine test cell operations, including rigging, pressure testing, calibration, and utility maintenance.
- Assist in PLC/SCADA-based troubleshooting and basic control system tuning.
- Provide support for fabrication, equipment installation, and system improvements.
Project & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in improvement projects using structured problem-solving techniques.
- Support asset management strategies and maintenance planning.
- Contribute to efficiency, reliability, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Teamwork & Coordination
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Guide and support contract technicians and junior team members.
- Participate in daily operational meetings and communicate updates effectively.
Documentation & Systems
- Track and manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and service records.
- Maintain documentation related to audits, calibration, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure timely closure of assigned tasks within maintenance systems.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of or eligibility for a formal apprenticeship or technical training program in HVAC/Mechanical – Electrical related field.
- Relevant technical certifications and (as per regional requirements) preferred.
- Compliance with export control or regulatory licensing requirements, if applicable.
Experience
- 6-7 years relevant work experience in engine test bed operation and maintenance. (AVL test bed is preferred)
- Hands-on experience in industrial utilities, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting preferred.
- Moderate level of relevant work experience or technical training in facilities maintenance or HVAC systems
- Exposure to maintenance planning, spare parts management, and audit compliance is desirable.
