As a Facilities Maintenance Technician (Building Engineer), you’ll play a key role in keeping airport operations running smoothly by maintaining and repairing a wide range of building systems and industrial equipment.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work hands‑on with a variety of airport facility systems, including:

• Elevators, conveyor systems, and mechanical equipment
• Lighting, communication, and radio systems
• Air handling units, HVAC systems, and fire systems
• Plumbing, steam fitting, and building infrastructure
• PLC‑based controls, computer‑controlled systems, and steel‑frame structures

Daily responsibilities include:

• Performing maintenance and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
• Conducting preventative maintenance to keep equipment running at peak performance
• Diagnosing and resolving electrical issues (AC/DC circuits, high voltage up to 480V, high amperage, 400‑cycle equipment)
• Reading wiring schematics and performing industrial wiring independently
• Installing and repairing 110/220/480V single‑ and multi‑phase electrical systems
• Supporting related building trades such as plumbing, steam fitting, and fire systems

What You Bring

• Strong knowledge of general building maintenance and electrical troubleshooting
• Experience with industrial wiring and the ability to work independently
• Ability to perform low‑ and high‑voltage repairs
• Experience with air handling units, plumbing, steam fitting, and conveyor systems
• Proficiency in electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Valid, clean state driver’s license

Bonus Skills (Not Required):

• Journeyman electrical license
• Welding experience
• PLC maintenance experience
• Ability to climb ladders, walk long distances, and lift moderate weight
• At least 24 months of experience in three or more of the following:
• Electrical
• Structural/Carpentry
• HVAC
• Mechanical

Work Environment

This role involves working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Technicians must be available for all shifts, including weekends and holidays. Schedules are determined by seniority, and union membership is required.

This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, IL.

The pay range for this position is $71802.00 - $71802.00/yr.
