JOB TITLE: Facilities Ambassador

REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager

STATUS: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

COMPENSATION: $24.49 hour, including paid medical insurance as well as paid time off (vacation, health, & holidays)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

TheFacilitiesAmbassadoris part of a team ofsixsupportingthe day-to-day functioning of a safe and welcoming space for the community,working with Center staff, tenants,non-profit organizations, LGBTQ+individuals, andvulnerable members ofthecommunity.The Center owns andoperatesa 35,000 square foot facility that provides direct services and space forspecial events,meetingsand other types of gatherings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Courteously welcome clientsand visitorsto the Center, creating a hospitable environment and providing services to clients with the utmost dignity and respect.

  • Follow & implement all Center policies,proceduresand Community Agreements.

  • Apply non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage and resolve conflicts safely and effectively.

  • Monitor building entrances, lobbies, and outside surroundings to ensure building safety, includingimmediate assessment ofhazards, and notification ofappropriate managementstaffif/whenidentified.

  • Perform daily building opening and/or closing duties, depending on shift.

  • Independently perform routine janitorial duties tomaintaincleanliness and hygiene across all facility areas.

  • Assistin the day-to-day functioning of the building, including maintenance, repairs, acting as a liaison with vendors, and other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

  • Support Room Rental Coordinator by providing room set-ups/breakdowns and responding to event holder on-site requests. Serve as a liaison to event holders as needed.

  • Monitor,identify, andreportbuilding maintenance needs and/or safety hazards.

  • In the absence of Facilities Manageror other management personnel, act as Center liaison to emergency responders (police, paramedics, fire department, etc.).

  • In urgent crisis situations, contact emergencyresponders,in accordance withthe Center’s 911 policy.

  • Performadditionalfacility-related tasks as directed by the Facilities Manager to support Center operations.

  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, safety equipment, and other facility-related materials; notifyFacilitiesManager when restocking is needed.

  • Maintainaccuratelogs of visitors and vendors entering the building,in accordance withCenter policies

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining emergency preparedness plans, including participation in drills

ESSENTIALQUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commitment to the mission and vision of the SF LGBT Center.

  • Knowledge/familiarity with LGBTQ+community and/orability to work with a broad range of community membersrepresentingthe full diversity of the LGBTQ+and allied communities.

  • Strong commitment to racial, social,and economic justice.

  • Ability to work professionally and ethically in a multi-cultural team setting, includingabilitytomaintaina high levelof confidentiality.

  • Strong customer service/communication skillsessential.

  • Ability tomaintainsupportive working relationships with a wide variety of community-based organizations.

  • Familiarity withbasicmaintenance/repair.

  • Ability to work independently and/or with limited supervision.

  • Ability to follow written instructions and diagrams.

  • Basic computer skills (email, calendar, Word, Zoom, etc.).

  • Initiative, dependability, and flexibility.

  • Able to work indoors/outdoors and perform tasks on a ladder of 10ft. and higher.

  • Basic understanding of emergency response protocols and ability to act calmly and effectively in urgent situations.

  • Familiarity with building systems such as HVAC, lighting, and security preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and de-escalate conflicts in a respectful and effective manner.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to100lbs as needed for facility tasks and event setups.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (notrequired):

  • Prior experience using crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and/or de-escalation methods.

  • CPR, First Aid, and/or OSHA Certification.

  • Basic familiarity with audiovisual and theatrical setup.

  • Bilingual language skills (bilingual paydifferentialavailable if qualified).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position is based100%at the Center’s 1800 Market Street location.

Essential physical requirements

  • Must be able to work indoors/outdoors and perform tasks on a ladder of 10ft. and higher.
  • Must be able to operate machinery (use hands/fingers/arms to handle, feel or reach).
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of several hours daily (stand or sit).
  • Must be able to move supplies and lift objects up to 100 pounds with assistance-.
  • Must be able to move around building (walk, climb, kneel).
  • Must be able to work in a shared office space with 3 or more employees in the same office with moderate levels of noise.
  • Must be able to communicate with patrons.
  • Employees in this position must be able to perform these essential functions satisfactorily, and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job.

  • Hours are primarilyTuesday –Saturday, however position withstart asMonday to Friday. Work schedules are within a standard7:00 am –10:00 pm window.

  • Local travel may berequiredfor meetings or offsite events. Out of town travel is infrequent and negotiable. No carrequired.
