RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform and document required safety checks on all cranes, welding machines, and tools at the start of each shift and continuously throughout the workday. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, weld symbols, and fabrication layouts to plan work activities. 
  • Select, order, receive, and inspect materials; utilize materials efficiently and responsibly. 
  • Perform TIG, MIG, flux-core, sub-arc, spot, and seam welding in accordance with company standards and applicable codes. 
  • Conduct hand grinding, finishing, and polishing to required specifications. 
  • Monitor and inspect own work for quality and compliance; consult with Plant Superintendent and/or Quality Control when clarification is needed. 
  • Complete all required production, quality, and project documentation accurately and timely. 
  • Advise and support other fabrication personnel as necessary. 
  • Consistently meet or exceed customer quality, schedule, and workmanship requirements. 
  • Maintain a minimum 95% success rate on X-ray weld inspections. 
  • Operate cranes, hoists, and forklifts as required; successfully complete all required equipment and safety training. 
  • Safely and properly operate fabrication equipment including drill presses, angle rolls, plasma cutters, shears, and hand tools. 
  • Perform hydrostatic testing of vessels per established procedures. 
  • Prepare finished projects for shipment to customers. 
  • Perform housekeeping duties and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in TIG, MIG, flux-core, sub-arc, spot, and seam welding techniques. 
  • Above-average mechanical aptitude with strong math skills, particularly fractions and decimals. 
  • Ability to accurately read and use measuring devices including tape measures, calipers, and other precision instruments. 
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision. 
  • Reading and writing proficiency required.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Demonstrated fluency in welding equipment, including setup, adjustment, troubleshooting, and safe operation of TIG, MIG, flux-core, sub-arc, spot, and seam welding machines. 
  • Knowledge of welding parameters, consumables, shielding gases, and material-specific requirements. 
  • Proficient use of pneumatic tools as provided by the company. 
  • Skilled use of hand tools required to complete fabrication and welding tasks. 
  • Ability to safely operate cranes, hoists, forklifts, and material-handling equipment.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of advanced TIG, MIG, flux-core, spot, and seam welding experience. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, ASME codes, and weld symbols. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while meeting team and production expectations. 
  • Understanding of and adherence to company policies, procedures, and quality standards. 
  • Commitment to complying with all safety rules and regulations. 
  • Basic computer skills required. 
  • Strong, respectful,  communication skills; ability to work as part of a team and assist with training other employees. 
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement and quality workmanship.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination. 
  • Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus required. 
  • Ability to wear required PPE for the duration of the shift, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes. 
  • Frequent light lifting of objects up to 15 pounds. 
  • Frequent moderate lifting of objects ranging from 15 to 45 pounds.
