The role of Aviation Engineer is critical in effectively managing workloads between the Aviation Team in WSP (US) and the GCC. This individual will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality support in delivery of aviation tasks for WSP in both India and the US. WSP are looking for an experienced and ambitious Aviation Engineer who will be expected to support the HOD in managing the workload of the junior member, support in training, and become the first point of check for work being delivered by GCC. The contribution of the individual will ultimately be used to inform end client decisions, such as the construction of large-scale airport infrastructure to facilitate and wider economic growth.

•    Successful applicant will work with the aviation planners, engineers and project managers in various disciplines to support our aviation planning projects across the US offices;
•    Specific responsibilities may include computer-aided design, records management, calculations, data gathering and presentation, online data research, field investigations, researching technical topics, and document control.
•    Some assignments may also be related to other transportation modes and facilities;
•    The successful candidate would be expected to expand their role in the future to include management of projects and development / training of staff in Bengaluru/Mumbai/Noida to grow the capability;

There will also be the opportunity to travel to our US offices to work face to face with the US project teams as required;
•    Quality checks of data and model outputs;
•    Research and review design options for both technical and economic impact;
•    Management of and overseeing the on-time completion of tasks assigned to GCC and to WSP’s expected standards;
•    Take ownership of tasks assigned and search for solutions where required;
•    To become the key point of contact with different US offices for modelling Design & Planning tasks;
•    Zeal to grow self and dedication towards working independently/ with minimal guidance where required;
•    Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies;
•    Clear communication (verbal and written) with colleagues in India and the US on all matters – project related technical communication and day-to-day matters;
•    Support in writing reports, and other analysis and modelling technical notes;
•    Work within project constraints, such as time, budget and resource;
•    Attend and contribute to team and project meetings; and
•    Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline.

Key Competencies/ Skills

Mandatory Skills
•    Knowledge and familiarity with FAA design standards and aviation-specific criteria (e.g., FAA Advisory Circulars, Engineering Briefs, and airfield design best practices).
•    Experience in civil engineering, with a focus on aviation or transportation infrastructure.
•    Proven ability to work in complex design processes and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
•    Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•    Knowledgeable of current technology with the ability to utilize it effectively on projects.
•    Ability to manage concurrent design processes and identify impacts projects may have on each other.
•    Experience in construction administration tasks, including reviewing submittals, RFIs, and change-orders.
•    Understanding of relevant software’s theories and limitations.
•    Ability to work as part of a team and to work under guidance. 
•    An understanding of the necessity to work within prescribed timeline and budget constraints.
•    Good understanding MS Office applications with focus on Word and Excel.

Desired Skills
•    Prior experience with a planning or engineering firm, an airport, a state department of transportation, or other aviation stakeholder.
•    Knowledge of aviation operations, management, planning and/or engineering is highly desired.
•    Familiarity with CAD software solutions (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) is highly desired.
•    Familiarity with aviation-specific applications (e.g., AviPLAN Airside Pro) is desired.
•    Knowledge of GIS, InfraWorks, runwaySimulator, CAST, or SIMMOD is a plus.
