Located between West 34th and West 40th Streets, the Javits Center features more than 850,000 square feet of exhibition space, expanded meeting rooms, a rooftop pavilion and terrace, and a wide range of sustainability and technology-driven services.
Program Overview
The Javits Emerging Leaders Program (JELP) is a paid summer internship designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders through hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development.
Program Dates: June 8 – August 14
Interns will gain real-world experience, contribute to impactful projects, and participate in a structured leadership development program.

Position Summary
The JELP Intern will be an integral member of the Exhibitor Solutions team, contributing to service operations, order management, and customer experience initiatives that support successful event execution at the Javits Center. This role is designed to go beyond traditional support—interns will take ownership of meaningful work that directly impacts exhibitor satisfaction, operational efficiency, and the overall service experience.
Through hands-on work, mentorship, and a capstone project, interns will develop in-demand skills in customer service, operations coordination, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration, empowering them to grow as future leaders and confidently take the next step in their careers.
Essential Functions
Core Responsibilities (All Interns):
Support departmental initiatives and daily operations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams
Participate in all JELP programming and events
Contribute to and complete assigned capstone project
Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and initiative
Department-Specific Responsibilities:
Process and review exhibitor service orders (electric, plumbing, internet)
Respond to exhibitor inquiries via email and phone
Coordinate with internal teams and service providers
Track deadlines and resolve discrepancies
Maintain order tracking systems
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred majors in Business, Hospitality, Communications, Operations
Skills: Customer service, multitasking, Microsoft Office
Program Requirements
Must be available to work full-time onsite at the Javits Center for the duration of the program.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer-sponsored visa support now or in the future.
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
