Duties and Responsibilities:
- *Cleans pool facilities (e.g. swimming pool, pool deck, equipment area, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary and hazard-free pool.
- *Vacuums pool(s) and clean vacuum bags daily.
- *Cleans pool facilities (e.g. swimming pool, pool deck, equipment area, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary and hazard-free pool.
- *Vacuums pool(s) and clean vacuum bags daily.
- *Coordinates cleaning schedules with the Aquatics Manager to ensure safe and healthy environment.
- *Brush and scrub pool bottoms, corners, and gutters.
- *Cleans (i.e. pick up debris, sweep, pressure wash) pool deck, stairs, and bleachers.
- *Assist with stocking chemicals and other supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.
- *Cleans deck gutters as needed.
- *Assist with repairing and replacing lane lines as needed.
- *Prepares swimming facility for scheduled activities in coordination with the Aquatics. Manager and coaches (e.g. test hand rails, inspects pool and deck, moving lane lines etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe operating condition.
- *Maintains cleanliness of Swimming Pool Custodian office, mechanical (pump) room, chemical storage room/office, boiler room, and chemical storage shed.
- *Assist with cleaning coaches’ offices, conference rooms, restrooms, shower areas, locker rooms and storage areas on the north (Mauka) and east (Diamond Head) side of the DKAC. Sweeps, mops, and/or vacuums classrooms, offices, laboratories, auditoriums, conference rooms, locker rooms, players’ lounges, halls, corridors, elevators and stairways; cleans dry erase boards; cleans carpets; cleans storage closets and cleans windows as needed.
- *Assist with removal of rubbish, discarded and recycled materials and other debris from the DKAC.
- *Keep outdoor showers and shower area operational and clean.
- *Polish and clean all outside water fountains, guard chairs, starting blocks and handicap chairlifts to avoid rust.
- *Sweeps leaves and debris from courtyards, stairways, landing around the DKAC.
- Occasionally perform maintenance, janitorial and general labor tasks
- *The incumbent must maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators, staff, coaches and users of the facilities.
- *Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawai‘i and its employees, and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and of the affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students, or others, have occurred or will occur.

* Essential duties of the position
Qualifications: - Ability to read, speak, understand and follow written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
- Ability to work weekends, and holidays to keep the pool within Department of Health standards during heavily used times at the pool.
- Ability to swim 100 yards/meters without stopping, tread water for three (3) minutes, and surface dive under the lane line.
Desirable Experience: Some experience in cleaning preferred.
