The Executive Director, Actuary serves as a member of the sidecar team, providing leadership and technical expertise for the development of the sidecar initiative. This includes:
Leading the existing sidecar’s operations (i.e. inforce management): technical coordination and collaboration internally and externally for financial reporting (the audiences are RGA internal management, regulator, sidecar CEO and sidecar investors), tax, valuation, pricing, investments, regulatory communication and filing, legal entity management (including liquidity, capital, dividend, risk management)
Assisting new sidecar initiatives when appropriate (such as designing and structuring new sidecars, onboarding new business and deploying new sidecar’s capital, establishing RGA’s operating processes and controls to service the new sidecars)
Principle Duties:
Lead and manage the existing sidecar’s operations including finance, valuation, investments, pricing and external service providers and sidecar’s legal entity management
Support the sidecar management team in ensuring the smooth operation of the existing sidecar
Support the sidecar management team in setting up new sidecars (when appropriate) including the design of a new sidecar, onboarding new business and deploying sidecar’s capital
Provides leadership with the enhancement of the sidecar’s projection and planning infrastructure by working with sidecar’s external valuation actuary
Provides leadership with the advancement of financial metrics and management information
Drive out cross-functional decisions through project facilitation and governance
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field required
Work Experience:
10+ Years Life or health insurance/reinsurance experience in financial reporting, valuation, legal entity management required
10+ Years in a combination of professional consulting, finance and accounting, organizational change management and leadership required
10+ Years of experience directly interacting with and influencing senior executives preferred
5+ Years of management experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
Professional designation – FSA or equivalent Required
Skills & Abilities:
Expert knowledge of general reinsurance operations including business flow, finance, accounting, valuation, investments, legal entity management required
Expert knowledge of Statutory, GAAP valuation and reporting required
Highly advanced investigative, analytical and problem solving skills. Expertise in translating business needs and problems into viable solutions required
Expertise in leading and managing multiple initiatives and sub-teams simultaneously, including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility required
Exceptionable ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical team within RGA as well as vendors, partners, investors and other outside companies required
Ability to establish and implement a vision and goals that result in success through leadership skills, collaboration, creative thinking, maintaining focus and persistence required
Highly advanced ability implementing change within an organization, ensuring understanding, engagement and ownership required
Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions required
Sets strategies and direction, ensuring alignment with short-term plans and longer term objectives required
Highly advance persuasion skills when working with internal/external partners to resolve problems/issues required
Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services required

Compensation Range:
$139,380.00 - $207,700.00 AnnualBase pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
