EVSE Design and Release Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the anticipated worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the anticipated worksite. Lead the design, release, packaging, and certification of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) for future model battery electric vehicle (BEV) programs. Lead EVSE design, release, and testing for next generation electrified vehicles. Lead packaging (including enclosure) and appearance design efforts together with supplier partner, including any necessary AAR. Work with Studio on Class A surfaces. Coordinate features and deliverables with vehicle and customer experience teams. Release core components in FEDEBOM and WERS and drawing/model updates from P-release through launch. Manage Component Design Specifications (CDS) and Design Change Requests (DCR). Participate in Design Reviews and conduct Worst-Case Circuit Analysis. Work with EDS and OBC teams for proper interfaces and EMC team for vehicle level regulatory compliance. Manage quality foundation documents including Quality History, DFMEA, PFMEA, SCCAF, RCL/RDM, DVP&R, (refer to FMA). Support Supplier PPAP process through visits and document review (Control Plan and PFMEA). Understand/support/review/approve PPAP elements and PSW signoff. Support launch of vehicle programs, vehicle testing, offboard testing, regulatory testing, homologation testing, and other Trustmark testing. Support GPDS builds and AIMS resolution with suppliers. Evaluate electrical system engineering alternatives for various attributes, including cost, weight, package, quality, benchmarking, geometry creation and functional analysis. Interface with various cross-functional organizations in jointly identifying the prime alternative recommendation delivering the best compatible solution for quality, cost, weight, and function. Work with a team comprised of Tier 1 suppliers, purchasing/STA, manufacturing, attribute teams, interfacing teams, and vehicle team. Responsible for production warranty investigation and Assembly plant returns/failures with suppliers to drive containment and elimination of early warranty. Lead benchmarking efforts for core components, present findings and analyze EVSE architectures and features. Work with other core engineers on authoring DVMs and perform the necessary bench and on vehicle testing to ensure component and vehicle operation to requirements.
