Job Summary

The Event Server is responsible for providing a high level of food & beverage service to guests at a variety of events that span corporate galas, non-profit fundraisers, and intimate weddings. Servers act as ambassadors of the event company, providing a personalized experience, anticipating guest needs, and adhering to a high standard of hospitality and service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a warm and welcoming approach to all guests that creates memorable experiences
  • Responsible for all aspects of service day of – set up, execution and strike of events including but not limited to linens, tabletop set up, polishing equipment. stations/buffets, in house and rental furniture/equipment, light cleaning, table service/carrying trays, etc.
  • Maintain an organized workspace to multitask efficiently in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Take ownership of and guide guests’ experience throughout the event
  • Exceed guests’ expectations at every opportunity
  • “Read” event to anticipate guests’ needs
  • Respond promptly and courteously to any and all guests’ requests, questions and concerns
  • Be ready and willing to assist fellow team members regardless of duty or difficulty
  • Participate in ongoing training – service, standards, food and beverage knowledge, etc.
  • Be a contributing team member to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the events
  • Other Production company assignments including but not limited to event registration/check in, elevator attendant, coat check, etc.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience as a banquet/event server in a comparable setting
  • Excellent English verbal and written skills

  • Basic food and beverage knowledge - terminology, techniques, pronunciations, regions, varietals, etc.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Able to multitask efficiently, work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be a proven self-starter capable of finding solutions with minimal supervision
  • Highly reliable, adaptable and punctual
  • Available to work a flexible schedule that will include days, nights, weekends and holidays as dictated by the events schedule and seasonal changes
  • Current Food Handlers Card as well as Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Training certification
  • Have regular access to e-mail and the internet


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods (up to 8+ hours on event days).
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25+ lbs.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with moderate-to-high noise levels.
  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, and perform physically active tasks as needed.


Compensation & Benefits

  • $25-$30 per hour
  • Part-time, non-exempt position
