About the Role
Joel Catering is seeking an Event Producer to lead the planning, production, and on-site execution of exceptional events across our venues and off-premise locations.
Event Producers own events from the production handoff four to six months prior to event through execution. This role combines client leadership, creative event design, operational coordination, and hands-on event management.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, calm under pressure, and motivated by delivering seamless experiences for clients and guests. Event Producers take ownership of every detail and ensure each event reflects the standards of the Joel Experience.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning & Client Leadership
- Own events from production handoff (approximately 4–6 months out) through execution
- Guide clients through layouts, timelines, and event design decisions
- Finalize event details within approved budgets while identifying opportunities to enhance the guest experience
- Ensure all production paperwork, proposals, and documentation are accurate and complete
Event Production & Coordination
- Coordinate vendors, staffing, equipment, and internal teams including kitchen, warehouse, delivery, and FOH
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure smooth event transitions and planning continuity
- Communicate and enforce venue guidelines when producing events at Joel-operated venues
- Maintain strong communication with clients and vendors throughout the planning process
Event Execution
- Lead on-site execution including setup, service flow, staff supervision, and breakdown
- Troubleshoot challenges in real time and maintain calm leadership during live events
- Ensure venue presentation, service standards, and event flow meet Joel expectations
- Maintain operational readiness and proactively address issues before they impact the guest experience
Qualifications
- Based in the Greater New Orleans area
- 5+ years of event production, hospitality management, or catering experience
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex events simultaneously
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure
- Genuine interest in food, hospitality, and creating thoughtful culinary experiences
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and event schedules
- Experience with Caterease, Prismm, or similar event software is a plus
- Commitment to accountability, ownership, and follow-through
