Foundations of Cosmic Awareness (FOCA) is a student-led nonprofit organization focused on education, science communication, and interdisciplinary learning. FOCA brings together fields such as physics, neuroscience, philosophy, and space science to encourage curiosity-driven exploration and critical thinking about the natural world and human understanding. We provide opportunities for students and young leaders to engage in educational programming, collaborative projects, and community-based events that promote learning, communication, and intellectual growth. Our mission is to foster curiosity, interdisciplinary dialogue, and meaningful engagement with science and education.


Role Description

This is a Hybrid (Remote/In-Person) internship role for an Event Coordinator in the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Area. The Event Coordinator will support the planning, organization, and execution of FOCA programs and community events. This role works closely with internal team members and external partners to ensure events are well-structured, effectively communicated, and successfully delivered. Responsibilities include coordinating logistics, assisting with scheduling and registration processes, supporting event setup and operations, and contributing to post-event evaluations for continuous improvement.


Qualifications

  • Skills in Event Planning and Event Management
  • Strong Communication and Customer Service abilities
  • Experience or interest in Sales and networking strategies
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Familiarity with event-related tools or software is a plus
  • Interest in science, consciousness research, or interdisciplinary studies is encouraged
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a relevant degree in event management, communications, or related fields
  • Strong skills in event planning and coordination
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Interest in education, science communication, or community engagement
  • Familiarity with event tools, forms, or scheduling platforms is a plus
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in communications, event management, education, or related fields preferred
