Our challenge

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) Business Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will analyze power generation, transmission, and distribution data, support regulatory compliance, and help optimize our natural gas and power operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across departments to drive data-driven decision-making.



Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Houston, TX is $120k - $130k/year & benefits (see below).




The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems such as SAP, OpenLink, Endur, Kayenta, or similar platforms.
  • Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of trading, settlement, and risk management processes.
  • Familiarity with financial instruments such as derivatives, spot and futures contracts.
  • Excellent requirements gathering and documentation skills.
  • Strong process analysis and optimization skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Experience in project management and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.




Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in energy, power, or natural gas industries.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems, data analysis tools, and regulatory frameworks.




Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Knowledge of market tariffs, pricing models, and financial analysis is a plus.
