Produce comprehensive cost estimates for mechanical and electrical projects typically ranging $10K–$2M (utility upgrades, piping, HVAC, chilled water, process utilities, gas systems, power distribution, lighting, controls, and minor structural work).
Review project scope, drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and site constraints to develop accurate takeoffs, material lists, labor hours, equipment, and subcontractor scopes.
Develop unit-rate and assembly-based estimates; apply labor productivity factors specific to cleanroom and controlled-environment work.
Solicit, evaluate, and incorporate vendor/subcontractor bids and pricing; maintain and qualify a vendor pricing database.
Prepare bill of materials (BOM), subcontractor scopes of work, pricing summaries, and detailed cost worksheets for proposals and budget approvals.
Identify and quantify project risks, contingencies, escalation, and schedule impacts; document assumptions clearly.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, EH&S, operations, and project management to validate designs, clarify scope, and resolve discrepancies.
Support value engineering and cost-reduction workshops; propose alternate materials, routing, or methods to meet budget and schedule goals while preserving contamination control.
Maintain estimating standards, templates, unit costs, labor rates, and historical project databases; input estimate data into ERP/estimating software.
Provide timely estimating support during pre-bid, procurement, and change-order activities; assist in bid reviews and post-bid reconciliations.
Ensure estimates account for cleanroom gowning productivity, limited access work restrictions, permitting, EHS requirements, and tool/process uptime protection.
Assist in preparing project budgets, capital requests, and cost forecasts for leadership.
